University Consortium of Applied Hypersonics Seminar Series: Hypersonic Air-Breathing Vehicle Design

Abstract
Dr. Bakos co-founder/CEO of Innoveering LLC will present on hypersonic vehicle design. Hypersonic vehicle design is a multidisciplinary optimization problem. For air-breathing propulsion-powered vehicles the design further requires management of the flow around and through the vehicle/engine such that sufficient air is captured and processed to produce net thrust. There are available relationships and general rules derived from analysis and numerous conceptual designs that can help guide the design process towards attractive configurations. Examples drawn from vehicles that have been matured to the point of flight test also offer insight into what design features are physically relevant.
